Austria Inflation Eases Slightly In April
(RTTNews) - Austria's consumer price inflation eased marginally in April, figures from Statistics Austria showed Wednesday.
Consumer prices climbed 1.8 percent year-over-year in April, just below the 1.9 percent rise in March.
The slight slowdown in April was mainly due to cheaper airline tickets and a weaker price increase for cigarettes.
Meanwhile, spending on housing, water and energy proved to be the strongest price driver, followed by those for restaurants and hotels.
Month-on-month, consumer prices edged up 0.2 percent in April.
Inflation, based on the harmonized index of consumer prices, slowed to 1.9 percent in April from 2.0 percent in March. Monthly, the HICP increased 0.2 percent.
