Malaysia Retail Sales Growth Improves In March

(RTTNews) - Malaysia's retail sales growth rebounded at the end of the first quarter, data from the statistical office showed on Tuesday.

The value of retail sales logged an annual growth of 6.6 percent in March, faster than the 5.7 percent gain in February. In January, the rate of expansion was 8.2 percent.

Retail sales at non-specialized stores grew 6.5 percent from last year, and sales of other goods in specialized stores advanced by 7.3 percent.

Meanwhile, wholesale trade rose at a slightly slower pace of 5.7 percent year-on-year in March, following a 5.8 percent increase a month ago. Sales of motor vehicles were 2.3 percent higher compared to last year's March.
