Wall Street Poised To Open Broadly Lower
(RTTNews) - Initial cues from the U.S. Futures Index suggest that Wall Street might open mostly down. Google parent Alphabet, Tesla, General Motors and Intel are among the prominent U.S. companies scheduled to publish their earnings results this week.
In the Asian trading session, gold eased from a one-month high, while the dollar struggled.
As of 8.10 am ET, the Dow futures were down 56.00 points, the S&P 500 futures were adding 0.25 points and the Nasdaq 100 futures were tumbling 16.75 points.
Asian shares broadly up, while European shares are trading lower.
The U.S. major averages finished broadly up. The Nasdaq rose 78.52 points or 0.4 percent to 20,974.17 and the S&P 500 inched up 8.81 points or 0.1 percent to 6,305.60, although the narrower Dow edged down 19.12 points or less than a tenth of a percent to 44,323.07.
On the economic front, the Richmond Fed Manufacturing Index for July will be released at 10.00 am ET. In the prior month, the Index was down 7.
The Fed Money Supply for June will be released at 1.00 pm ET. In the prior month, the M2 Level was $21, 942 billion.
Fed Vice Chair Michelle Bowman will host fireside chat to discuss effects of artificial intelligence on banks, businesses, and consumers at 1.00 pm ET.
Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will give welcome remarks before hybrid 'Integrated Review of the Capital Framework for Large Banks Conference hosted by the Federal Reserve at 8.30 am ET.
Asian shares turned in a mixed performance on Tuesday. China's Shanghai Composite index rose 0.62 percent to 3,581.86. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index ended up 0.54 percent at 25,130.03.
Japanese markets ended a choppy session slightly lower. The Nikkei average slipped 0.11 percent to 39,774.92 while the broader Topix index finished marginally higher at 2,836.19.
Australian markets ended slightly. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 edged up by 0.10 percent to 8,677.20 as higher commodity prices boosted mining stocks.
